Catholic Charities operates twelve (12) residences serving more than 100 individuals in communities throughout Long Island. Our person-centered philosophy supports and encourages each individual to be as independent as possible while becoming active members of their communities. Individuals participate in a variety of activities including day habilitation programs, workshops, competitive employment, and recreational outings. While in their home each person is encouraged to participate in general household chores, including food shopping, cooking, laundry skills, and overall house maintenance. The individuals are supported by our Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s), who are specifically trained to meet the needs of the people they support.
