Whether you're teeing off on the course or taking to the pickleball courts, your participation helps Catholic Charities continue providing life changing services to individuals and families throughout Long Island. Enjoy a day filled with breakfast, tournament play, lunch, cocktails, and an evening reception, all while making a meaningful impact in our community.

Deacon Michael J. Monahan, Esq., M.P.S. (Deacon Mike)

Deacon, Servant Leader, Author, Board Leader, National Managing Principal Emeritus & C-Suite Executive

Deacon Mike was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Rockville Centre on May 14th, 2011 by Bishop William F. Murphy. Following his ordination, he was assigned to minister to the people of St. Anthony’s in Oceanside from 2011 to 2019. Since 2019, he has been assigned to minister in the Tri-Parish Beach Catholic Community in Long Beach alongside Father Brian Barr, Pastor.

Deacon Mike was appointed to the Board of Catholic Charities of Long Island by Bishop John O. Barres in September 2024 and currently serves on the Board’s Executive Committee and Governance & Leadership Committee.

Deacon Mike published his first book, “Accompany Me,” in 2022 and is a frequent guest homilist on Catholic Faith Network’s The Word.

Deacon Mike’s professional career spans more than 35 years with varying executive roles such as National Managing Principal, Chief Administrative Officer, Labor Counsel, Chief Human Resources Officer and General Counsel. He has served as a highly skilled adviser to global entities on a wide range of technical strategic matters impacting business, success and legal compliance throughout his career. He is a passionate advocate for the frontline workers in the vineyard and a sought-after speaker at conferences across the United States on both technical topics related to human resources/employment law matters and on the topics of Servant Leadership and Culture Transformation in Business Organizations. He retired from his last firm, Grant Thornton, LLP on June 1st, 2024, and seeks to glorify God through his service and ministry to mission-driven organizations in need of transformational leadership, legal support and strategic guidance.

Deacon Mike and his wife, Doreen, have been married for 35 years. They are the parents of two children and were blessed with their first grandchild in 2025.
