Recognizing Our Social Workers
March is National Social Work Month and we are happy to celebrate the tremendous contributions that our social workers make here at Catholic Charities of Long Island. Social work is a unique and diverse profession grounded in passion and heart. Wherever people are in need, you will find a social worker willing to help, including psychotherapy, case management, and policy advocacy. Social workers are committed to supporting others and creating a more connected community. Their dedication is matched by their training and education, as many earn graduate degrees and professional licenses. Every day, our social workers provide compassionate care and hope for our Long Island neighbors. You can find social workers throughout each of Catholic Charities’ ministries offering help in many ways:
- Providing mental health care and crisis intervention in our two mental health clinics;
- Connecting seniors to essential resources and socialization in our Senior Services;
- Assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness to find a new home in our homeless housing programs, Project Independence and Project Veterans’ Independence;
- Supporting individuals struggling with addiction to work through the recovery process in our Addiction Treatment Services;
- Encouraging independence, socialization, and skill development in our Residential Services.
While our social workers have diverse responsibilities spread across many ministries, they are united in their commitment to the mission of the Catholic Charities of Long Island. The skilled care and services they provide are essential contributions to our mission and support the wellness of our community. A big thank you to all of our social workers for making a difference in the lives of those who come to us for help!
